Shopster offers some very unique features that Doba has yet to implement into their service. The first is the storefronts Shopster offer to set up for customers with the purchase of a new drop ship plan. We particularly liked this because of our belief in selling in places other than eBay. The other neat feature is that Shopster developed its own social network that connects several thousand drop shippers and lets members buy and sell from each other. However, you really pay for these extra services with Shopster's steep membership prices and hefty transaction fees. In addition to inflated product pricing, we have also heard reports of Shopster marking up their shipping prices - not good business.
With Shopster's most basic plan at $69.95 per month you can sell up to 200 products. Take that $69.95 to Doba and they will let you sell up to 10,000 products. Additionally, although Doba doesn't offer their own storefront to customers like Shopster does, they have spent years perfecting features that allow customers to export their inventory and put it right into their own shopping cart. Using your own storefront integrated with Doba will help you cut out those transaction fees that Shopster hits you with if you were to use one of there stores.
Arguably the most obvious line separating these two is their level of customer service. Call Doba during normal business hours and you will be speaking with a customer service rep within minutes. Call Shopster and you'll spend several minutes going through automated menus finally ending up with just an answering machine - no real person available. Our call left on that answering machine was never even returned, neither was our email to Shopster. Doba has a very dedicated support staff and their job is to make sure you succeed. When using a drop shipping company such as Doba or Shopster your success hinges upon the drop shippers ability to deliver products on time and react quickly to problems that arise. Doba is the clear winner in that department.
To conclude, although Shopster has some attractive features built into their platform, you will end up paying hefty fees for those between marked up prices, inflated shipping costs, and transaction fees. Doba and Shopster work with many of the same suppliers and their inventories are very similar. However, we definitely suggest choosing Doba because of there lower membership fees, integration with eCommerce solutions, as well as their superior customer service and reactiveness.
